Questions parents ask
Short answers about ELAF. Something missing? Write to us from the contact page.
What is ELAF?
An app that teaches children everyday Arabic through a story they play. The first story, Habooba Comes to Canada, follows a grandmother moving to Canada to join her family.
Which Arabic does my child learn?
Everyday Arabic, the way families speak at home.
What ages is it for?
All ages from 3 up. The same story is told three ways, Explorer, Adventure and Challenge, each with 3 levels.
What can my child do today?
Adventures 1 to 5 of Habooba Comes to Canada. The full story has 24 adventures, and new ones are added as they are finished.
What does a lesson look like?
Your child watches the story, learns the word, says it out loud, writes it with a finger and plays a picture game. ELAF listens; if it is not quite right, they hear it again and try again.
Does ELAF record my child's voice?
No. The app turns your child's voice into text and does not keep a recording.
Is there anything Islamic in ELAF?
The home screen shows prayer times with a countdown to the next prayer. Quran, My Salat and Islam stories are coming soon.
What devices does it work on?
A web browser on a tablet, computer or phone. Android and Apple apps are coming soon.
